Leadership and Staff

Doug Schneider | Senior Pastor

Pastor Doug, a graduate of Western Bible College in British Columbia, has been the Senior Pastor of The Embassy for twenty eight years now. Together with his wife Judy and children, Andrea and Derek, he looks forward to what God has in store for The Embassy and the church of the Durham Region.

If you ask him about his priorities, he will tell you “prayer, prayer and more prayer!” He is passionate and radical about prayer, worship, the study of the scriptures and small group ministry. The word "radical" actually means "root" or "having roots", from its Latin derivation. These things are the root system or underground network of The Embassy ministry.

His vision for The Embassy is that the entire church family will be equipped to do the work of the ministry including strengthening each other through strong relationships and making the person of Jesus Christ known to those who do not know Him. Our mission is to see people and society transformed!!

Rick Busse | Executive Pastor

Pastor Rick has been serving The Embassy since October 2003 as the Executive Pastor overseeing various departments and staff.  Most of his time is given in the areas of leadership, disciple making and church growth.

Ruth Smith | Executive Assistant & Women's Ministry

Ruth Smith has been on staff at The Embassy since May 2003. However, The Embassy is not a new place for her as she attended Community for her Internship while attending Eastern Pentecostal Bible College (now known as Masters College and Seminary). Ruth comes to The Embassy from another local assembly where she ministered for 12 years under different portfolios such as Women’s Pastor, Pastoral Care and Young Adult Pastor.

Ruth teaches a Bible Study on Tuesday mornings at 9:30 am . The current topic is “Covenant” which is Ruth ’s passion that all will have a revelation of “covenant” truth in our relationship with Christ.

Ruth ’s heart and prayer is as Ephesians 1:18-19 says. “that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which He has called you, the riches of His glorious inheritance in the saints, and His incomparably great power for us who believe.”
